Born, Jair Ventura Filho, Jairzinho shone in the 1970 World Cup Brazilian win. With a record goal in every round of the tournament, his cannonball shot and electric turn of pace turned the best of defenses useless.

After a brief time in Europe with Marseille, Jairzinho went on to win over 80 caps for Brazil, including his appearance in the 1974 finals.

In the 1966 finals, at age 15, he was able to play with his boyhood hero Garrincha. Jairzinho scored the cricial goal in Cruzeiro's 1976 Copa America win over River Plate.
